Katmandu's school

Jibjibe's school

Background on the drawings

The city of Kathmandu is extremely congested and polluted. On a clear day, it is possible but rare to see the Himalayan range. Not very wooded, only monkeys and dogs remind us of a life other than human. However, most people come from the countryside and have recently arrived in Kathmandu to work or study.

Jibjibe is a small village, difficult to access, in the Himalayas. Most households have a cow for milk, a goat or a few chickens, as well as a small plot of land to grow rice and vegetables. The view is great, and the children help their mother with farming and household chores. We were impressed by their knowledge of plants.
